So when Lillian’s dad tells her a nineteen-year-old criminal who’s fresh out of prison is coming to The Sanctuary as part of a rehabilitation program, Lillian is more than a little apprehensive. She interacts with animals more than humans—and definitely not criminals.

 Happy "Book Hook" Day
May I 'hook' you on "I think I love you"
my latest release in the Australian Sport Stars series?

"I think I love you" is set in Melbourne, in the wonderful country of Australia.

I hope you get hooked by this Snippet

Today's hook

Sarah listened to his steps as he strode down the hall until he stood next to her. Ignoring him, she turned up the volume and laughed at some lame scene on the telly.
“Good morning,” he said as he sat next to her.
“We’ve broken up.”
He laughed again.
Turning to face him, she gave him a slap on his arm. “Will you take me seriously, please?”
“I do. We’ve broken up and now we rekindle our friendship,” he replied as he reached for the cake. “Vegies so early in the morning?”
“Shut up. I’m having my orgasm here, and I need peace and quiet for that.”
Markus nearly spat out the cake in his mouth along with his snort.
Sarah shot him a glare. She was sure she’d hit rock bottom, but he didn’t have to make it that obvious.
Letting out a long sigh, she leaned back into the couch. “I’m truly sorry about yesterday, Marky. I have no idea what came over me.”
“Physical attraction,” he said with a shrug.
She moved away from him, angry tears burning the back of her eyes. “For crying out loud, for once will you take me seriously?”
“I do, baby.”
She bit her lip as she studied her face. “I’m sorry,” she whispered again.
“Saz. Let it go. It was an intense twenty-four hours. The thing with Timmy, coping through a wedding not only with a headache, but also with the disappointment. Shit happens.”

She nodded, but stayed silent, not sure how to answer that.

Blurb:
Markus DeLeon and Sarah Winter’s lives couldn’t be more different… After three years away as the goalkeeper for an English soccer club, Markus has been happy to be back in Australia. He’d missed his family and friends, including Sarah. He’s known her since childhood, and often protected her from the teasing of other children and the troubling consequences of a broken home.

When they attend their friends’ wedding, a new light is cast on their friendship… Sarah is fresh out of a bad relationship, and Markus has always been the one she can confide in. Maybe it’s the magic of the wedding—or how stunning he looks in a tux—but the attraction between them intensifies in ways they’d never imagined.

But sometimes when risking what you have, you might lose everything… Following a passionate encounter, Markus isn’t sure how to handle this new aspect of his relationship with Sarah, and literally flees the scene for the coast. Sarah is unsure how to react to his sudden departure, but is soon knocked off course by misunderstandings and a frightening family emergency.

Markus realises his mistake and wants to make things right, but he also faces obstacles. He’s been offered an exciting new job, and an attractive newcomer to the neighbourhood is eager to claim his attention, though the last thing Markus needs is another confusing relationship.
Can Sarah and Markus face the fear and doubt—and the potential loss of their lifelong friendship—to give their love a chance?

5 Stars
Book #3 of the Australian Sport Series - also the one I enjoyed the most :)
Their love story is not your regular "thrills" one - you know, the one with shivers top to bottom and bottom to top - at the first sight :) It's a beautiful story about the friendship, strong and true, turning slowly into some profound feelings. They do not realize it at first, then they do not want to realize that, finally they are too scared to admit it... :) But it gets them anyways :D

4 Stars
For me this book had to happen. Markus and Sarah have been best friends forever and the only ones still single.
Despite the obstacles and the misunderstandings that litter their lives, they were always meant for each other. The chemistry between them is undeniable but thankfully they figure it out.
Iris does an amazing job creating believable characters, in real life situations with emotions that we've all experienced.
A great summer read full of love, laughter and enduring friendship.

Tuesday Tales - SHOE- Where #Authors #Write to a #prompt ~ #romance #love

Welcome to Tuesday ... Welcome to Tuesday Tales ...

I continue with  Rachel's story. I introduced her in "I think I love you", the third book in the "Australian Sports Stars Series". She's Sarah's sister.
When Rachel opens the door and finds the police standing in front of her door, she's scared of a repeat of the day she was dragged to the police station. Yet, the two officers only want information and ask her to stop by later that day. Worried, she calls Oliver, a good friend, but instead gets Matiu Afoa on the phone. Matiu is Oliver's Kiwi friend staying with him for a week. He's in Melbourne for a meeting.

Today's prompt is: SHOE.

Enjoy - and feel free to leave a comment. And don't forget to click the link below to go back to the main Tuesday Tale site for more stories by very talented authors.

Mat loosened his tie as soon as he got into his room he’d been staying in while with Oliver. Relieved about the outcome of the meeting with Karen, he kicked off his shoes and threw himself onto the bed while dialling Adam’s number in New Zealand.
“Kia Ora my friend. What’s the news?”
Mat smiled. “We’ve got the deal. It’s now up to the lawyers to negotiate the big money.”
“Pai mahi.”
He cringed at his friend's words. “Will you stop talking Maori?”
Mat rolled his eyes as Adam’s bark of laughter echoed through the phone. It was days like these when he regretted teaching his friend the language. Unlike Mat, whose background was half Maori half English and his command of the Maori and English languages fluent, Adam’s parents had moved to New Zealand thirty years ago when he was only a little baby.
“I like it,” Adam replied, a chuckle still in his voice. “You won’t be able to teach me for much longer once you move to Queenstown.”
Queenstown.
Despite looking forward to moving to the bigger city, his stomach still churned every time he thought about leaving his friend behind. But Adam had settled with his wife just outside Fox Glacier…and they were expecting their first child.
It was time for Mat to move on and he was excited about the challenge to extend their business.
Mat gave Adam all the details of the meeting before he hung up. He shut his eyes for a second when he recalled his conversation with Rachel. Her voice. Her frustration. Or had it been fear?
Quickly, he grabbed his phone again and dialled Oliver’s number yet wasn’t able to get hold of him. Raking his hand through his short hair, another thought came to him and he got up in search for Oliver’s phone.
Bingo – Rachel’s number was stored in the speed dial. Hesitating, he finally pushed the button, his heartbeat soaring with each ringtone, until she finally answered.
“Darling, please tell me you’re going to have a little girl.”

Mat cocked a brow not sure how to respond.

“My Mum is dead.”
Somewhat startled by this statement, Emma peeked over the reception desk into beautiful green eyes that belonged to a cute little girl with brown curly hair and a freckled button nose. She couldn’t help but smile. There was something in the girl’s eyes that held a hint of mischief and curiosity, as well as some sadness, and Emma was drawn to her instantly.
“Nadine!”
The stern voice of an elderly woman approaching the reception caused Emma to flinch. The girl stiffened with eyes wide open.
“My apologies for that,” the woman said to Emma, though her expression didn’t actually reveal any signs of apologies. The woman’s face reflected a life of bitterness, the lines appearing deep and weathered.
Emma smiled. “No need to.”
An elderly man joined them, and after a brief nod of acknowledgment she asked, “May I help you?”

Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!

The phone buzzed and the display announced Markus’ call.
“Marky, darlin’, we have to break up,” she said by way of answering the phone, hoping he’d get the hint that she was still embarrassed about her actions the previous night and not ready to face him, yet.
A bark of laughter echoed through the phone, and Sarah disconnected the call instantly.
The phone buzzed a couple more times, but she ignored it and devoured more of the cake in front of the TV. Breakfast television was always entertaining, but today the news of other people’s misery made her even more melancholic, and she changed over to the kids’ channel.
“Baby?”
Sarah nearly fell off the couch when she heard Mark’s voice. “How did you get in here?”
His chuckle did something to her body, yet, she wasn’t able to figure out whether it was irritation or pleasure.

Tuesday Tales - CHRISTMAS SHORT STORY - Where #Authors #Write to a #prompt ~ #romance #love

Welcome to Tuesday ... Welcome to Tuesday Tales ...

The Tuesday Tales authors decided to write a little Christmas story this week. I've revisited Sophie and Mia Levesque from "New Beginnings".

I hope you like it.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas season and a Happy New Year. May it be a joyous and blessed time for you all. I would also like to give you my humble and sincere thanks for your support throughout the year, I really appreciate it.

Sophie Levesque breathed in and out, in and out, trying hard to ignore the pain, and hoping for the paramedics to arrive soon.
“Sure, you don’t want me to drive you to the hospital?” her husband Mark asked.
She glared at him as she breathed in and out again.
Her sister Mia gently placed a pillow under her head. “Keep breathing. In and out.”
Sophie grabbed her sister’s wrist. “I know what to do,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Geesh,” Mia’s fiancée Josh commented. “A bit touchy isn’t she.”
The doorbell rang and Josh headed towards the front door. Sophie heard muffled voices and a bark of laughter.
“Great timing, Soph,” Zach said as he stepped into the room, closely followed by his wife, Natasha. “The Christmas Eve service is starting in half an hour.”
An urge to push overwhelmed Sophie and she squeezed Mia’s wrist and reached out for Mark’s hand.
“No pushing, honey. Don’t push. Breathe, keep on breathing.”
If Sophie could’ve, she’d hit him with another glare.
Natasha came closer and sat next to her. “Aiming for your own little Christmas story, are you?”
“Okay, everyone,” Sophie panted. “Forget the paramedics. Get whatever it is you need to deliver a baby.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed helpless stares. “Go!” she screamed as the next urge to push hit her.
“I think I heard something about warm water,” someone said.
“And towels.”
“A blanket.”
When Mark made a move to leave, she held on tight to his hand. “You,” she gasped. “You stay here.”
He nodded. “What do you want me to do?”
“You need to look whether you can see the baby.”
Mark’s eyebrows shot up as he paled.
“Oh for God’s sake, Mark. Nothing you haven’t seen before.”
“Well,” he stuttered. “They were different circumstances.”
“Get used to these circumstances,” she screamed as another wave of pain hit her.
Mark moved her dress up her legs and took off her panties. “Honey, it’s not the best sight, but … oh my God …”
“What?”
“I can see the head,” he said excitedly. “Holy shit.”
Mia returned with the water, Natasha had some towels in her hands, and Zach gave her a sip of water. In the corner of the room sat Josh, right next to the Christmas tree with the phone in his hand, pale as a block of goat cheese, taking instructions from the doctor.
Over the next fifteen minutes, Sophie pushed, screamed, and ordered everyone around. By the time the paramedics arrived, Sophie held a little baby in her arms, with Mark by her side.
“It seems we’re late,” one of the paramedics said with a smile. He stepped closer and knelt in front of Sophie. “What’s his name?”
“Her name is Natalie.”
“Perfect and so appropriate. Congratulations.”

Snippet Sunday - JOURNEY TO HER DREAMS 20/12/2015 #romance #reading #dreams #Ireland

JOURNEY TO HER DREAMS was re-released early August and
has enjoyed another full edit and an awesome new cover.

Here's another little snippet.

THANK YOU

I've chosen a little snippet further along in the story. It's Christmas and "they" (don't want to give too much away) are attending the Christmas Eve service.
Enjoy :-)

As they all  listened to the sermon, Hollie glanced towards him and noticed his arms resting on his knees and his head facing down. Was he even listening? She watched his hands. There was something about them—strong, yet soft at the same time.
He wore a subtle diamond ring on one of his fingers and a silver watch around his wrist. She couldn’t help but stare and suddenly had a vision of these hands touching her, caressing her body, and taking her into an embrace. Hollie blushed and quickly turned her head. Feeling guilty, she tried to get her mind back to the minister’s words and the Christmas story he was telling.
“ ... in these days of Advent, may you have hope, trust, and faith. Open your hearts to your family, friends and those close to you.”
Open your heartshope, trust and faiththe words went through her mind, and she glanced at him again. Their eyes met as he turned towards her with a smile.

May I introduce: Lynn Spangler "Dayna's Miracles"

Dayna’s Miracles
By Lynn Spangler

Blurb:

She had loved. And she had lost.

Dayna Stone had lost her husband eight years earlier when their daughter, Khloe, was only four months old. She had survived the devastating loss of her husband, only to find out she’d likely lose her daughter as well to cancer.

Eddie Kringle is captivated by his beautiful neighbor and her equally beautiful daughter. Born a Magi, Eddie has issues coming to grips that Magi magic cannot cure the child, though his father, Kris, is more than capable. He and Dayna lean on each other as the days pass.

They grow closer and a bond is formed.

A tragedy befalls them on Thanksgiving. Can their love, and the intense love they feel for Khloe, be the miracle they are looking for?

Excerpt:

Grabbing his wallet and keys off the countertop, he exited his domicile and bounded down the stairs. By the time he reached the bottom, a sheen of sweat beaded his brow. His T-shirt clung to his back. Breathing underwater would probably be easier than sucking in the damp air.

The choice of cargo shorts and his favorite flip-flops would make excellent attire for a visit to the North Pole. Not. Like he’d wear cold weather clothes on a day hot enough to melt asphalt.

Eddie stepped into the side alley next to the apartment complex. He turned his head, which became insubstantial, light as air. His body followed, becoming a mist, blending with the moisture in the air, invisible to the naked eye.

The trip to the pole took minutes. He coalesced, twisting and spinning as his body whorled into his human form seconds before he landed at his parents’ doorstep. The blood thundered through him, his heart pounding as it did when he transformed. Snow covered his feet, slipping between his soles and his flip-flops. Not feeling fond of the sensation, he entered the home, closing the door with a solid thud. He slid the soggy footwear off and wiped his feet on the mat. A sigh passed his lips when he stepped onto the heated floor.

“Wow. Two visits in one month. What did we do to deserve this?” said a sarcastic voice from behind Eddie.

He turned and glared at Barry the elf. Eddie nearly had two solid feet on Barry so he crowded the elf and loomed over him. To his credit, Barry stood toe-to-toe with him, staring directly into his eyes, not giving an inch. To irritate the little person, he ruffled Barry’s curling black hair, much like he’d do to a four-year-old. Barry slapped his hand away. “Knock it off.”

“What are you gonna do? Kick me in the shin?”

Eddie yelped when Barry did just that. Unlike the stories one hears at Christmas, elves don’t wear slipper-like shoes that curl at the end. They wear steel-toed work boots.

Eddie hopped on one leg while holding his sore shin. “You little jerk. I was joking.”

Barry’s laughter reverberated around the foyer. He spun on his heel, murmuring, “I wasn’t.”
